Little Flowerpaw opened her crystalline blue eyes, lifting her head as she gazed around the small apprentices den, watching the flanks of the others rise and fall. It was still dark out, and she could hear the cricket's song, as well as the hooting of the owls. It was so very loud, she found it hard to get sleepy again, and she got up, so she could go for a small walk around the territory. Hopefully she wasn't doing dawn patrol; she might be out for a while.
She went through the dirtplace tunnel, not wanting to get scolded by whoever was on guard at the entrance, as then she would spend all might fretting if she would have a punishment. But she didn't reconsider that she could be found out, and be punished more severely, because she had just had a rabbit cross her path! It hopped almost over her paws, and she brought down her head, trying to nip at it's neck, but instead catching it's leg. It stumbled, fell, and she went in for the kill.
Holding her prey, she raised her head, it dangling from her mouth like a doll. She should bury it, she knew, but now she was getting anxious. What if an apprentice woke up? She had to go back. So she did, turning and running back as fast as her short legs could take her.
Entering the camp, she slid over to the fresh-kill pile, dropping the rabbit on top and going back to the apprentices den. She did feel a little more tired; must've been the run. So she plopped down in her nest, closing her blue eyes, and slowly drifted back into sleep.
